SUMMARY: The C4 Tactical is the most rugged solar-powered watch we’ve ever built — designed from the ground up as a true operator’s tool. It combines uncompromising durability with modern technology: a bead-blasted steel case, recessed 4 o’clock crown, 200 meters of water resistance, and the brightest lume we’ve ever produced with 3D Super-LumiNova blocks. Like all our solar models, six hours of light delivers up to six months of reserve, and it can charge off any light source, even candlelight. Unlike the sleeker C5 Tactical, the C4 is larger, more aggressive, and purpose-built for field use — making it the toughest tool watch in the Vaer lineup.

WHO IS THIS WATCH FOR? We recommend the C4 for those who need maximum toughness and legibility — whether that’s military service, first responders, outdoor professionals, or anyone who demands gear that performs under pressure. At 41.5mm, the C4 has real wrist presence, while its ergonomic case lines and flush crown ensure comfort even under heavy use or layered gear. This is a watch designed first and foremost as equipment, but it transitions seamlessly into daily wear for anyone who values rugged authenticity.

INSPIRATION: The C4 was inspired by the legendary Benrus Type I — the stripped-down, military-issued diver built for Navy SEALs and covert operatives in the 1970s. That same form-follows-function ethos defines the C4: matte bead-blasted surfaces to kill reflections, oversized syringe hands for quick readability, and bold military numerals based on U.S. Air Force stencils. By swapping mechanical movements for solar technology, we’ve delivered greater accuracy, reliability, and zero-maintenance operation, while still honoring the DNA of the original. The C4 Tactical carries forward the heritage of military tool watches while establishing a new standard for modern performance.
